Check your lights warning ? Motorcaravan insurance
Posted :06-10-2008
A motoring organisation is warning drivers to prepare for dark nights and bad weather conditions by checking their vehicle lights.
The Institute of Advance Motorists (IAM) says being able to see the road ahead clearly is vital for all drivers, in news that may interest holders of motorcaravan insurance.
Drivers are able to stop safely and avoid any danger if they take care to regularly check all lights are working including headlights, sidelights and fog lights.
A spokesperson for the IAM said if an oncoming driver forgets to dip their lights you should slow down and not retaliate by leaving your lights on full beam.
"Weather will dictate when to turn on fog lights. Use them sparingly and switch them on only when visibility is below 100 metres," the source said.
The IAM also suggests people slow down when driving with dipped headlights and to be aware of other cars approaching when their lights can be seen.
The European Commission suggested from 2011 all new cars and small vans should be fitted with daytime lights by law, it was recently reported.
