Motoring costs soar by 19% - Motorcaravan insurance
Posted :08-10-2008
The cost of running a car has increased by 19 per cent in the last year making it £277 more expensive than in 2007, according to the RAC.
In news that may interest holders of motorcaravan insurance, the total amount the average family will have to pay to run a car for a year is £2,435, taking into account fuel and car maintenance.
With extra costs such as car insurance, finance packages and depreciation also considered the annual cost increases to £6,133.
This figure is an increase of £1,000 from last year, with the average weekly cost of running a car rising from £98.71 to £117.94.
As a result, the RAC reports 36 per cent of drivers are considering trading their car in for a model that costs less to use.
Of the people questioned, 68 per cent said they would keep using their car rather than public transport until it improved.
New car sales fell by more than a fifth last month from the previous September, making it the biggest drop since 1999.
