Posted :15-10-2008
A caravan site, which is home to butterflies, bats and dragonflies, has won an award for its contribution to wildlife, it has been reported.
Swaleview Caravan Park in Richmond, Yorkshire, has been honoured with a David Bellamy Conservation award, according to the Darlington and Stockton Times.
In news which may interest those looking for cheap motorhome insurance, the site is set in 13 acres of woodland where the owners Andrew and Eileen Carter have planted trees and flowers to encourage a wide diversity of wildlife.
Professor David Bellamy told the source he was impressed with the green initiatives on the park, such as erecting nesting boxes for bats and owls.
"The owners have created an exciting wildlife wonderland which is brimming with bio-diversity," he added.
The park has over 100 privately-owned caravan holiday homes and there are also pitches for touring caravans and campers, the source says.
A holiday park in Wales was also recently awarded the David Bellamy Gold Conservation Award for the tenth consecutive year, according to the Tenby Observer.
