Motorists turning to internet for insurance
Posted :06-04-2005
New figures have revealed that UK drivers are increasingly using the internet to search for car insurance.
Despite recent figures from Sainsbury's Bank claiming that most motorists are happy to take the first quote offered to them, the group has now released a new study revealing that the internet may be a vital tool to combat such apathy among drivers.
Sainsbury's has announced that its car insurance website received a massive 208 per cent increase in the number of hits it received during 2004 compared with figures for the previous year, highlighting that more motorists are beginning to discover the benefits of shopping around.
Those results are backed by the recent findings of AA Insurance, which claimed that three out of four people now use the internet to research home and car insurance cover.
It is expected that the online insurance market will continue to grow, as new rules are set to come into force this year to enable people to apply for products on the internet without needing to sign and return paper copies of agreements.
