Insurance cost rise claims played down
Posted :23-05-2005
A leading insurer has heavily refuted claims that car insurance premiums have risen significantly over the past 12 months.
The AA has argued that the opposite trend has in fact occurred, with a rise in online brokers and increased competition creating a healthy consumer-driven market.
"The idea that car insurance premiums have risen by nearly a third is fanciful," said Kevin Sinclair, marketing director of AA Insurance.
"We are in a highly competitive market place which has seen new entrants and online providers discounting to gain market share."
According to the AA's British Insurance Premium Index, the cost of typical comprehensive car insurance premiums has fallen by 3.3 per cent over the past year.
