Cheap van insurance pledged by insurers

Van drivers are often safe and accomplished motorists, a fact that will be reflected by the rate of their insurance, a UK insurer has argued.

According to a study by Tesco Van Insurance, van drivers are statistically the safest drivers, making less and smaller insurance claims than other drivers.

Allan Burns of Tesco Van Insurance believes this research quashes the stereotypes which are often held of van drivers and reflects that all insurers should offer cheap van insurance.

"Van drivers are often stereotyped as rogues of the road however, our own records show that van drivers are actually very safe drivers, and in our eyes they deserve a good insurance rate," he said.

Van drivers also tend to be highly skilled, another factor behind brokers offering cheap van insurance.

One in five van drivers have taken an advanced or specialist driving course, the study found.
