Organisation aims to promote tyre safety

Those looking for motor insurance could benefit from the formation of an organisation which aims to promote tyre safety.
TyreSafe intends to increase awareness on the importance of keeping tyres in good and legal condition, Aftermarket Network reports.
It also plans to address the issue of tyre safety with regards to corporate responsibility, which could be of use to companies looking to buy commercial vehicle insurance.
Current road safety legislation in the UK forbids tyres to have a tread that is worn to below 1.6 millimetres.
In addition to being illegal, this can cause them to work less efficiently and require changing more frequently.
It is also against the law to have over or under-inflated tyres, or a mix of cross-ply and radial types fitted to a vehicle.
Badly-fitted or worn-out tyres increase the risk of driving, particularly in wet or icy conditions.
