Severe weather warning issued
Posted :
06-03-2007
The Highways Agency has issued a weather warning, noting that high winds and rain are likely to affect travel across the nation.
It warned yesterday of strong winds and heavy rain spreading from western parts of England and sweeping across the country overnight that could affect motorists on the country's roads.
Accident risks are likely to be increased during the spell of bad weather and motorists and commercial van drivers would be sensible to ensure they have up to date motor insurance to cover them in case of emergencies.
Motorists were also advised by the Highways Agency to keep a good distance away from vehicles ahead of them and to use their headlights during heavy rain and spray, they were also recommended to drive at a sensible speed during bad conditions.
More rainfall has been predicted for this evening and in heavy rain when visibility is impaired, drivers are encouraged to ease off the accelerator and slow down gently.
