Home insurance reminder for garden lovers
Posted :
24-08-2005
Britons spent over £3.7 billion on their gardens over the past 12 months and green-fingered homeowners are being urged to protect their property. According to esure.com, 80 per cent of homeowners invested in the gardens over the past year, with ten per cent spending over £600 on flowers, shrubs and accessories. However as garden property becomes more valuable, theft is also on the rise, sparking reminders for consumers to ensure their backyard is protected by their home insurance. Nikki Sellers, head of home insurance at esure.com, said: "Garden equipment, toys and bikes left out overnight are easy targets for opportunistic thieves. "We should all get in the habit of locking up items in the house and making our gardens as secure as possible." Homeowners are also advised to increase garden security through investing in outside lights and sensors.
