Home insurance key for St. Valentine's Day

Aside from everyday household items that get broken during steamy bedroom romps, St. Valentine's Day more than any other underlines how crucial it is to have adequate home insurance. Indeed, some of the most fantastic home insurance claims are made as a result of St. Valentine's Day mishaps. One unlucky pair of lovers dropped a diamond engagement ring from The Eiffel Tower, while another had a window broken by a DIY fireworks display. Lloyds TSB Insurance compiled a list of St. Valentine's Day disasters, with cases ranging from wedding proposals, romantic home cooked meals and even saucy after hours activities. Lloyds TSB Insurance, managing director Phil Loney, said: "With millions of homeowners in the UK, there is bound to be variety in the types of claims insurers receive. Even so, it is always surprising what people will admit to!" The insurer highlighted an example of an antique diamond bracelet eaten by the family dog and a valuable Persian carpet ruined after a mutual food feeding session, not only destroying the moment, but also the rest of the year's financial budget. Mr Loney added: "While some of the quirkier claims would not be covered by home insurance, knowing what you are covered for will help you get the most out of your policy."
