The imminence of the school summer holidays has led to a remainder for parents to review their home insurance policies, ensuring that they have adequate accidental damage cover.
According to a study from Sainsbury's Bank, children are responsible for over £1 billion of accidental household damage each year.
Parents are thus being urged to check that they adequate home insurance in place, including accidental and unlimited cover, protecting them against all eventualities and ensuring they are not caught short over the summer months.
Robert O'May of Sainsbury's Bank said: "With the summer holidays here, people will be in the home more, which could increase the chances of items being damaged or broken.
"Parents need to ensure that they have adequate cover, so that if something does break or their property is damaged in some way, they are adequately covered."
Homeowners are also reminded to make sure that they are not underinsured.
Millions of Britons are risking financial loss by failing to regularly update their home contents insurance policies and to accurately calculate the worth of their belongings.
