Home security goes on summer vacation

As the summer rolls on and the warm, sunny weather continues, 80 per cent of all homeowners have become more lax about security, a new survey has revealed.
Even though approximately 50 per cent of homeowners are aware of the heightened risks of burglary during the summer months, many won't change their actions because of it, according to Tesco home insurance.
Allan Burns, head of Tesco Home Insurance, comments: "It's understandable that people want to keep their homes as cool as possible during this heatwave.
"However, it's important to remember that burglars aren't any less opportunistic during the summer months than at any other time of the year."
One third of homeowners who responded to the poll admitted that they keep an upstairs window permanently open and a full fifth or respondents said they kept the patio doors permanently open.
This July was the hottest since records began in 1659.
