Homeowners warned on likely flood damage

As the UK experiences massive rainfall, homeowners are being warned by a major insurer to take precautions against flooding.
Liverpool Victoria has published a list of measures homeowners can take to minimise flood damage.
Climate change is making the incidences of severe weather increasingly common around the UK, the insurer has stated.
Nigel Snell, Liverpool Victoria's corporate communications director, said: "We all know how climate change is affecting the weather, but off the back of a long, dry summer, we’d urge people not to take the weather for granted.
"They shouldn't forget to prepare for the increasingly common flash floods which now seem to take place with increasing frequency."
Among the advice published, is for homeowners to keep important documents in a dry, safe place and to make a list of all major contents of the house and their replacement value.
Liverpool Victoria also urges homeowners to contact their insurer immediately if they do need to make a claim.
Currently protesters are besieging Britain's largest coal-fired power station in north Yorkshire, to protest against carbon emissions which contribute to climate change.
