Home insurance company releases survey

Home insurance business Legal & General has published its latest survey reporting on recent trends in the market.

Focusing on the relationship between homeowners and their homes, the Home Sweet Home survey reveals that the vast majority of Brits are not living in what they would describe as their dream home.

Of those surveyed, 80 per cent were happy to call their current properties home, but 84 per cent stated that their current homes are not ideal.

Over 20 per cent of home insurance holders do not think they will ever live in their dream home.

The survey also shows that city living is not the most desirable lifestyle for most homeowners.

Over 30 per cent want their dream home to be in the country as opposed to 17 per cent in the suburbs and only eight per cent in the city.

"It is also clear that people are buying a property that is below their true aspirations, given the number of respondents who are not living in their dream home and believe they never would," comments Garry Skelton of Legal & General.
