AA: Repair homes in wake of storms

Those with home insurance are being advised to repair their homes if possible in the wake of recent high winds and storms.
According to AA Home Insurance, most firms would agree to policy holders having any damage repaired and making a claim afterwards, due to the higher number of those needing to file a claim in extreme weather.
Gerry Barrett, head of the insurance company, said that it had been "inundated with calls" and was therefore advising customers to not hesitate in getting repair work carried out.
This, he maintained, may prevent further damage to a property which in turn could result in a larger home insurance claim.
"Insurers are taking a practical view given the huge number of claims now being made," he said.
"Most insurers will agree to customers getting minor damage repaired as quickly as possible and sort out the claim later - but check with your insurer first."
While last week saw strong gales across the country, this week is forecasted to be much colder with frost and snow.
