Ensure buildings insurance this winter

Those who own or run a business are being advised by Royal & SunAlliance (R&SA) on ways to avoid damage to their offices this winter.
The commercial insurance company is warning people to take precautions in order to protect the viability of their business, which could be affected if a property was damaged and rendered temporarily unusable.
In fact, research from R&SA found that almost half of the companies listed on the FTSE 250 index would be "impacted significantly" from a serious disruption of less than a day.
And freezing temperatures, such as those predicted in the coming weeks, could cause damage to various electrical and heating equipment, causing further problems.
Adequate buildings insurance may also help owners in the event of damage to a property, which can be bought separately to contents insurance and from a different provider.
R&SA, which provides a range of insurance products to more than 20 million customers worldwide, is also advising people to leave heating on at least four degrees C, which may protect the pipework in the building even if it is insulated.
