Saga reports "leap" in insurance claims

Saga Insurance has reported that phone calls to its insurance firm leapt recently due to the heavy rain and strong winds experienced in parts of the UK.
The firm, which supplies car insurance and home insurance to almost two million people in the country, said that the hurricane force gales had caused an increase in the number of claims being made.
This may be due to damage such as fallen roof tiles or broken windows as a result of the extreme weather, which may result in a buildings insurance or home contents insurance claim.
However, Saga insists that even at times of increased call volumes, its team are ready to answer calls personally - with the company's boss, Andrew Strong, having to pitch in this time around.
"We all have to muck in - regardless of rank," said Mr Strong.
He added that Saga was committed to ensuring its customers received a personal touch when making a claim and helping them in times of need.
Saga also offers travel insurance and breakdown cover.
