Home insurance provider Zurich has issued a warning to owners of the new PlayStation 3 (PS3) games console.
According to the household contents insurance company, consumers who buy the new PS3 would do well to dispose of the packaging carefully in order to avoid encouraging thieves.
Moreover, Zurich Insurance spokesperson Keith Lewis noted that the demand for the games console outweighs the supply as only 200,000 PS3s are available and that thieves will be looking to exploit on this situation.
He added that due to an increase in the waiting days between bin collection dates, empty PS3 packaging outside homes could advertise the goods to "vigilant thieves".
"If you can, keep the box - you never know if might need it," Mr Lewis added.
Zurich Insurance claims to have over 125 years of financial experience and offers insurance for the home, car and yacht.
The PS3 is the third video game console of its kind released by Sony Computer Entertainment, its predecessors were the PlayStation and the PlayStation 2.
