Newlyweds advised to consider home contents insurance

Those who have recently walked down the aisle are being advised to check the terms of their home contents insurance after receiving wedding gifts.
According to Churchill Home Insurance, ten per cent of newly-married couples are given presents with a combined value of £3,000 or over, which can cause the value of their home contents to increase.
Research from the insurer found wedding gifts can include items such as toasters, blenders and other kitchen appliances, with a third of guests opting for this type of present.
Meanwhile, 42 per cent choose to donate vouchers and cash - which can then be used on items ranging from glass and silverware to larger items such as DVD players or televisions.
"Newlyweds need only to receive around 50 gifts to see the value of their household contents increase by £3,000," said Frances Browning, a spokesperson for Churchill Home Insurance.
"We urge all newly-married couples to check their home insurance policies to make sure they have adequate cover to suit their needs."
A common way to receive wedding presents is to make a list and register it at a department store so no gift is duplicated by guests.
