A new survey has revealed that older homeowners are more likely to be paying increased household insurance prices than those of one year ago.
Statistics from RIAS, which specialises in cover for people over 50 years old, found an average rise of £30 in premium costs for the age group.
However, the research also found that across all age groups, 15 per cent of people saw their insurance prices go up by more than £50.
The survey was conducted online in April of this year, collecting data from a total of 1,547 people aged over 18.
In related news, Duncan Bland, the director of home security firm Everest, recently recommended that property owners should check their household insurance policy before fitting an alarm system, as some may not be covered by certain contracts.
