Barbecues 'popular with 60% of Brits'

In news which may not surprise many, barbecues have been voted as one of the most popular outdoor things to do during the summer months.

A survey by internet bank smile found that 58 per cent of Brits liked nothing better than powering up the barby on a hot day, while 11 per cent said their top activity is gardening.

However, homeowners may need to consider what outdoor equipment is covered in their home contents insurance - because if it goes missing overnight, they may face a costly bill if underinsured.

Likewise, extreme weather conditions currently being experienced in certain parts of the country could put garden furniture and tools at risk should they be left out overnight.

Home contents insurance policies may be even more effective in such a circumstance if they are thoroughly checked and amended before the homeowner needs to make a claim.
