Homeowners given security tips

Home insurance customers have been offered tips on making their property more secure following a survey which found that crime in rural areas may be on the rise.
NFU Mutual said its risk management team has identified more opportunistic thieves scouring countryside areas for high-value goods to steal - and said homeowners may be wise to become more security conscious.
"We recommend that people take a look at the impression their property would give to a would-be thief on the look out for their next target," said the firm's Laura Wood.
Aside from purchasing a comprehensive home insurance policy, consumers may want to take notice of the tips offered by NFU Mutual.
These include fitting window security locks, setting timers for lights to turn on when the house is unoccupied, keeping cash and jewellery safely locked away and using an approved alarm system.
In addition, it is also important to keep a home insurance policy up-to-date to make sure all contents are listed on the policy.
