All students 'should have home contents insurance'

All university students should take out adequate home contents insurance no matter where they choose to live, the manager of Manchester Student Homes (MSH) has suggested.
Although private halls of residence can offer a number of levels of security, there is always a risk of becoming a victim of crime and students should play on the safe side, MSH manager Cooper Healey said.
She added that it is often easy to use the buzzer to let people into the halls but residents sometimes do this without checking who they are actually letting in.
"You need to be asking for ID or making sure you know the person that you are letting in," Ms Healey added. "We always suggest that you take out contents insurance; there is a chance that you will become a victim of crime."
MSH is funded by the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University.
