Luggage 'may be covered by home contents insurance'

Britons ready to jet off for a late summer getaway may be interested to know that their home contents insurance could cover the possessions inside their luggage.
According to Andy Delbridge, head of general insurance products at Legal & General (L&G), people tend to assume they can claim under a travel policy but should check to see if their home insurance covers lost luggage.
The comments follow a survey by L&G which found that 23 per cent of holidaymakers believed their luggage was worth around £500 and 53 per cent had no idea what the total value was.
And Brits may want to make extra sure they have cover in place, after aviation group BAA claimed British Airways lose one bag for every 36 travellers.
"It seems more important than ever that holidaymakers check they do have insurance cover in place," said Mr Delbridge.
"Customers may be covered under the personal possessions section of their home insurance policy," he added.
People in the UK may be even more inclined to depart for a holiday in the coming months, following a washout summer during which various regions experienced severe flooding.
