Consumers should ensure home insurance 'covers changing needs'

Consumers were advised to ensure that their home insurance covers changes in requirements by Legal & General today.
The advice follows the publication of research showing that over half of Brits (58 per cent) refer to their evening meal as dinner, while 36 per cent call it tea.
Only six per cent of respondents referred to their late evening food as supper.
Head of communications at the firm's general insurance business Ruth Wilkins stated: "Feedback from the research would indicate that changes in our home lives mean that the traditional role of the kitchen as a place to gather to eat is changing too.
"For example, the kitchen table may be for some the centre for studying and sending emails, rather than eating."
She added that whatever consumers use their kitchens for, they should make sure that their home insurance protects their shifting needs.
Abbey recently advised consumers to ensure that their home insurance provided cover for periods of time when the value of their contents was increased, such as weddings, birthdays and Christmas.
