Home insurance providers 'should be kept abreast of changes'

Consumers have been advised to keep their home insurance provider updated of any major changes in circumstances or risk not being covered due to their policy not matching their lifestyle.
Such is the opinion of home insurance provider Legal & General in light of new research indicating that some 28 per cent of Britons now have entertainment equipment such as a stereo or television in their kitchen.
The study also suggests that 24 per cent of respondents do not have more expected items, such as a washing machine or dishwasher, in such a room.
Marketing director at Legal & General's general insurance business Garry Skelton comments that the research reflects the "increasingly diverse lifestyles" of consumers.
"Legal & General would advise homeowners to make sure their home contents insurance reflects these changes and is regularly updated so they have the right cover to meet their changing needs," he adds.
Last month, the firm reported that 73 per cent of Britons leave their most valuable possessions - such as keys, mobile phones and money - in their kitchen.
