Britons hoard 'millions of pounds worth' of unused objects

Some 293 million obsolete objects that consumers cannot bear to throw away are being stored in Britain's homes.
A new poll by esure home insurance has indicated that millions of items that still function - but have been replaced by more advanced models - are gathering dust in the nation's cupboards, sheds and lofts.
The most popular items currently sitting unused in Britons' homes are VHS recorders (56 per cent), old mobile phones (47 per cent) and film cameras (33 per cent).
Head of home insurance at esure Nikki Sellers commented that not only does stockpiling such objects impact upon storage space in homes, but also has repercussions for home insurance.
"Homeowners should remember to keep an inventory of everything they own whether they use it or not," she said.
It was recently stated by the Association of British Insurers that around a quarter of British households have no home contents insurance.
