Homebuyers 'happy to inhabit haunted homes'

More than half (54 per cent) of first-time buyers would be happy to make an offer on a house thought to be haunted, even if the property were to have an impact on their home insurance premiums.
A Halloween property survey published today by Yorkshire Bank Mortgages also indicates that 79 per cent of people do not see sharing their home with a spooky presence as a reason to sell up and move.
Yorkshire Bank's head of retail, Gary Lumbly, comments: "We all know to look out for damp patches and cracks in the walls when viewing a home, but it could prove a little trickier to spot a supernatural problem with your potential property."
Furthermore, more than a quarter of respondents stated they would be more inclined to view a potentially haunted house as a possible investment, due to curiosity.
The upcoming three-day Halloween celebrations will take into account All Hallow's Eve, All Saints Day and All Soul's Day.
