Fire dangers for garden furniture unprotected by home insurance

Brits face a bill of up to £780 million on damaged garden property this Guy Fawkes' night, recent research by AA Home Insurance has suggested.
A study by the insurer has indicated that as Brits have an increasing amount of property in their garden - 65 per cent own a shed and 19 per cent have a greenhouse - they should ensure that their home insurance extends to cover their outdoor possessions.
Janet Pell, head of AA Home Insurance, notes that as gardens play an increasingly large part in the lives of consumers, they tend to have a "worrying cavalier" attitude to insuring garden contents.
"Every year, Guy Fawkes celebrations wreak havoc in gardens across the country, so we need to make sure we've protected our outdoor property," she states.
The fire service recommends that consumers should inform local first aid authorities, the fire service and the police if they are planning a fireworks display or bonfire this year.
