Ensure that home insurance covers fire damage, says Halifax

Research by Halifax has suggested that almost six million Britons are prepared to use accelerants such as aerosol cans, liquor and petrol on their bonfires to make sure that they go off with a bang.
This can pose a serious risk to the safety of consumers, their friends and their homes.
As such, Halifax is advising consumers to make sure that their home insurance policies extend to cover fire damage, should something go awry this Guy Fawkes' night.
Spokesperson for the firm Vicky Emmott comments that consumers should avoid taking unnecessary risks, especially with explosives and fire around.
"It is important to double-check your insurance to ensure you are covered for fire damage to property, personal liability and garden damage."
Halifax recently advised consumers to ensure that their homes are able to withstand winter storms and other inclement weather and in turn reduce the likelihood of having to make a costly home insurance claim.
