'A quarter of households' do not have home insurance

Around a quarter of households do not have home contents insurance, the Association of British Insurers (ABI) stated in recent days.
Malcolm Tarling, general insurance press officer for the association, stated that it is more common than you may think for people not to have some form of home insurance.
He added that in light of this, the industry has an obligation to make sure that consumers understand the benefits of insurance and make moves to extend the availability of it to as many people as possible.
Mr Tarling elaborated on the ABI's plans to target people who traditionally feel as though they are outside the insurance market, such as low income households who are actually the most vulnerable to crime and as such may have to make a claim on a home insurance policy.
Figures from the ABI indicate that poorer households are some 71 per cent more likely to be burgled at least once.
