Safes 'will ensure you get home insurance cover'

While buying a safe to store belongings in may not necessarily lower a home insurance premium they will ensure that you are able to get cover, according to the Safe Shop.
Managing director of the safe firm Anthony Neary noted that there are certain instances where a provider will insist that a consumer purchases such a security device before it will give them a policy.
Mr Neary noted that the most common items that need to be placed in a safe to ensure that a consumer can get a policy include jewellery and other valuables.
However, he concluded that certain other security features could be used to reduce costs: "Door locks and window locks will bring your premium down if you've got those fitted."
Home Office statistics indicate that most burglaries are carried out by opportunistic thieves, as in two out of ten burglaries they do not have to use force and can gain entry on to a property through an open door or window.
