Britons' £74 bn gadget stockpile

Britons have embraced the digital age and have spent an astounding £74 billion on gadgets, it has been reported.
According to the latest study by bank First Direct, people have an average of 16 gadgets in their home, with products spanning from mobile phones to computers.
Households spending more money on the latest technology may provide all the more reason to ensure that an adequate home insurance policy is in place.
Televisions took first place for the most money spent on any item, with a staggering £29 billion pounds spent by the UK as a whole.
Britons are also advised to ensure they have home insurance that covers their mobile phones as it is the most popular gadget for the British consumer with nearly 70 million currently in the UK
Meanwhile, Abbey has found that Britons have £50 million worth of unwanted items in their homes that they have been given as hand-me-downs.
However, the home insurance provider has advised consumers to ensure that even their unwelcome items are covered as they may suffer financial loss in the event of damage or theft.
