Britons 'stockpile items in their spare rooms'

The UK is a nation of hoarders, according to new research by Yorkshire Bank.
According to new figures from the financial services provider, nearly half (48 per cent) of housebuyers are motivated by the square footage of a new home so they can use it to store their possessions.
Over a quarter (26 per cent) of respondents admit to having at least one room in their home that is used to stockpile belongings.
Gary Lumby, head of retail at Yorkshire Bank, comments: "While location still tops the charts of must haves, space is now the new frontier. However, once we've got it - and in most cases paid a premium for it - we often don't use it in the way we intended."
With so many possessions stored in homes across the nation, it may be advisable for consumers to ensure that their home insurance covers all their belongings.
It was recently reported by Fool.co.uk that Britons have amassed some £23 million of unwanted gadgets in their homes, which may not be covered by home insurance policies.
