Brit kids 'have a fortune in their rooms'

The children of Britain have toys and gadgets worth £25.4 billion in their bedrooms, according to new research by Lloyds TSB.
A study by the home insurance provider indicates that the average child's bedroom is now worth £1,720, while a tenth of kids have goods worth over £3,000.
The survey suggests that the toys topping the Christmas shopping lists this year include the Nintendo Wii, Transformers merchandise and the Igglepiggle doll.
Phil Loney, managing director of Lloyds TSB Insurance, comments: "But despite kids' bedrooms costing a small fortune, many homes may not be adequately insured as parents don't necessarily know how much their home contents are really worth."
He therefore advises parents to calculate the value of their contents and make sure their home insurance policies reflect this.
In related news, recent research by Abbey suggests that Scots are the most generous with Christmas gifts, spending an average of £480 each on presents this festive season.
