Home insurance premiums 'based on a number of factors'

The amount that consumers pay for their home insurance cover is determined by a range of issues, according to Liverpool Victoria.
Emma Hoyler, spokesperson for the home insurance provider, explains that the postcode of a policyholder plays a big part in deciding the amount that they will pay for their cover.
She explains that this is because it determines the likelihood of being broken into.
As such, Ms Hoyler notes that there are various steps that consumers can take to improve home security, should they live in a region with high crime and theft rates.
"It's ever so important that you do have insurance ... particularly if you do live in one of those sorts of areas [where] there is a higher risk of theft, [such as] in urban city areas," she concludes.
According to the British Crime Survey, the number of domestic burglaries last year in England and Wales was approximately 733,000.
