Chaotic kids 'cause home insurance concerns'

Troublesome toddlers have caused £122 million worth of damage to the homes of their parents, according to recent research by Halifax Home Insurance.
A study by the financial services provider suggests that bothersome boys are responsible for 20 per cent more incidents than gruesome girls.
However, policyholders may be relieved to learn that damage caused by kids is classed as accidental damage, which may be welcome news when research by the firm suggests that the average cost of such a claim is £529.68.
Martyn Foulds, senior claims manager at the home insurance provider, notes that bringing up kids can be expensive enough without having to shell out to replace items that they accidentally break.
"Parents can protect themselves from the costs of home repairs and damaged contents by ensuring their home insurance includes accidental damage cover," he adds.
In related news, research carried out by Direct Line earlier this year suggests that one in ten parents believe that their destructive offspring have reduced the value of their home by an estimated average of £1,997.90.
