Check bags are insured, says Legal & General

Both men and women should ensure that they have a home insurance policy that adequately covers their bag and its contents, it has been advised.
Legal and General has recommended that people check that their manbag or handbag is insured as the value of people's bags is increasing all the time.
The insurance provider highlights that the average 30-year-old will now replace their bag every three months and spend between £185 and £380 on their new purchase.
A bag's contents can also push up the total value, with the value of a woman's handbag often to be worth over £1,500.
Ruth Wilkins, head of communications at Legal and General's general insurance business, advised: "It is extremely upsetting to have a handbag or the contents stolen. So rather than realise that you are not insured we suggest people check that they have cover now and that it is adequate to cover the cost of replacement."
The provider indicates that most home insurance policies offer cover personal possessions away from the home as an optional benefit and so would cover a handbag and its contents.
Meanwhile, esure home insurance has confirmed that the average schoolbag is worth £265 as children are more likely to stock up on technological gadgets than was historically the case.
