Kids' errands may increase household damage risk

Abbey Banking has revealed that the odd jobs done by children in the home earns them a staggering £700 million a year.
However, as pleasing it is for parents to see their children giving a lending hand, the various household chores could increase the risk of accidents in the home.
Consequently, it is crucial that parents ensure they have home insurance that includes accidental damage cover in order to ease the worry when delegating jobs to children.
Errands that pose a particular risk include tidying the house, washing dishes and vacuuming the home - all chores that make the top jobs list for children.
Once families have adequate home insurance cover, the benefits of allowing children to really earn their pocket money are plain to see.
"As well as giving kids a boost to their pocket money, this is a great way for parents to show their children the value of money and teach valuable financial lessons," comments Steve Shore, head of Abbey Banking.
Last year, it was revealed by Abbey that British children were receiving a total of £29 billion in pocket money each year.
