Ensure home insurance 'covers Christmas gifts'

Consumers were advised by Fair Investment Company today to make sure that their home insurance policy covers presents bought over the festive period.

Director of the firm James Caldwell states that, should the unexpected occur, the amount of money lost can quickly mount up, particularly if an adequate home insurance policy is not in place.

"Christmas is meant to be a time of enjoyment and these days; the gifts we give are more expensive than ever before. However, the good times can quickly go bad if there is a breakage or, worse still, a burglary," he adds.

He notes that if consumers make their home more secure, they could reduce their premiums and also advises that shopping around for the best possible policy can also provide a way to make savings.

In recent days, the firm advised consumers who had bought animals as gifts over the yuletide period to ensure that their new purchases are covered by an adequate pet insurance policy in case they become sick or are injured in the new year.
