Home insurance consumers 'looking for bargains'

Consumers who have conserved cash by switching their car insurance are now realising that they could make similar savings by changing their home insurance provider.
Such is the assertion of industry research organisation Consumer Intelligence (CI), which it was "only a matter of time" before members of the public realised that they could apply the principle of changing to their home cover.
Ian Hughes, managing director of CI, stated that until recently consumers have been very slow to realise the potential benefits of switching the provider of their home insurance to obtain savings.
"Continuing economic uncertainty is encouraging them to move fast - in increasing numbers - to take advantage of the significant discounts on offer," he added.
Mr Hughes concluded by stating that providing the pricing, marketing and service delivery is right, consumers can expect to benefit from "rich pickings" in 2008.
Consumers were recently urged by Fair Investment Company to ensure that their home insurance policy covers gifts bought over the yuletide period.
