Carry out risk a assessment, says Which?

Some insurance policies can be completely unnecessary, according to consumer watchdog Which?.
The organisation explains that there are a great number of insurance policies currently available and that not all of them are appropriate for consumers.
However, the company notes that some insurance policies are "must-haves", such as car, life and home insurance.
Author of the Money Saving Handbook Tony Levene states: "You can buy insurance to cover yourself against almost any conceivable risk - even alien abduction."
He advises consumers to not purchase a policy by blindly following what a salesman suggests, suggesting that they should carry out a risk assessment of their own and ensure that they make an informed choice about which insurance policies they definitely need.
In related news, Consumer Intelligence recently stated that consumers who have conserved cash by changing their car insurance provider are beginning to realise that they can may similar savings by doing the same with their home insurance.
