'Shop around for best home insurance deals'

Consumers should look for the best possible deals on their home insurance to improve their monetary situation, according to Abbey.

Head of mortgages at the financial services provider Nici Audhlam-Gardiner stated in recent days that home insurance comes up for renewal every year and notes that the easiest thing to do is stick with the existing provider.

But, she recommended looking around for other deals from other lenders as they may be able to offer a better agreement.

"That's something that can make quite a big difference to the amount of money you're paying out each year," Ms Audhlam-Gardiner stated.

Concluding, she noted that maintaining financial fitness is dependent on discipline in much the same way that getting physically fit is.

According to research conducted by ICM for Abbey those consumers living in the south-east of the UK were the most likely to renew their home insurance without shopping around for a better deal.
