British consumers could be making significant savings by switching their insurance providers, according to recent research. Figures compiled by MoneyExpert have shown that by changing their motor insurance and home insurance policies to the most competitive on the market, British property and car owners could save themselves considerable sums. In fact, on an annual basis a typical UK consumer could be saving £76 on their home insurance and close to £160 on their motor insurance, the price comparison firm reports. Sean Gardner, chief executive of MoneyExpert, said: "With everyone coming under increasing financial pressure from rising bills it makes sense to find every possible way to cut costs. "Our analysis shows potential savings of up to £547 are on offer from reviewing basic financial products and that would be a major boost for household budgets." Similar advice to that from MoneyExpert on seeking out the best deals available was offered recently by the Association of British Insurers in relation to car insurance arrangements.
