'Shop around' for best home insurance deal

Consumers looking for a home insurance policy should shop around for the best deal possible, according to the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba).

Technical and corporate affairs executive at Biba Graeme Trudgill comments: "You will actually find that you can save so much money by looking outside of your bank because a bank only sells one product - their product."

He explains that many people do not get a second opinion and choose to stick with their bank as it is where their mortgage originated from.

Mr Trudgill adds that if consumers go to a broker then they have access to a wider range of products, one of which is bound to provide a better deal than that offered by their bank.

Concluding, he reiterates his point that looking around for a policy saves cash.
