Two home insurance policies 'are better than one'

Consumers looking to take out a home insurance policy could find that they are able to make savings if they cover everything in one go, according to the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba).
Graeme Trudgill, technical and corporate affairs executive at Biba, reminded members of the public that there are two separate types of home cover - contents and buildings.
He explains that they can be taken out separately or a single combined policy can be opted for.
"You usually get a discount if you buy your two together - so that is worth investigating," Mr Trudgill notes.
He recommends speaking to insurance providers to establish what the best deal is by getting a quote for the policies both individually and together to see if there is a saving to be made.
According to the Association of British Insurers, the insurance industry paid out £9 million to households in the UK during the course of 2006 for loss of possessions or property damage.
