Home cover important 'irrespective of weather'

Home insurance is very important consideration regardless of the recent bouts of poor weather that have been experienced throughout Great Britain, according to Nationwide.
Charlotte Sjoberg, campaigns manager at the financial services provider, noted in recent days that the weather is becoming more extreme across the UK and that householders should have cover to reflect this.
However, she added that whether people are on a flood plain or not, they should still take out cover.
"Whether you are in a flood risk area or not, it is really important to protect your home against unexpected events. You really don't know what could happen," she explained.
Ms Sjoberg cited fire and other accidents as potential incidents which could damage a property.
Figures from the firm suggest that a fifth of consumers do not have home insurance to cover their house and that one in four people do not know which of their possessions are included in their policy.
