Burglars take family heirloom

Homeowners may want to ensure that they have adequate household insurance cover following the news that a couple in Derbyshire were recently the victims of burglars.
Bolsover district councillor Ann Syrett and her partner Tony Trafford of Stainsby returned from holiday to find that burglars had broken in and stolen a Victorian music box, the Derbyshire Times reports.
Mr Trafford told the news provider that his partner was "devastated" because the music box was a family heirloom she hoped to pass on to her sons.
"The jewellery and the music box - which has been in Ann's family since it was made - hold great sentimental value and we're desperate to track them down," he remarked.
The burglars entered the property through the front door between 14:00 BST and 14:30 BST, according to the newspaper.
In addition to the music box, the thieves also made off with a laptop computer - although it is not reported if the items were on their household insurance cover.
In related news, Zurich recently reported that British holiday home owners have contents worth an average of £15,200 in their properties.
The company said that this can pose risks as these homes remain vacant for a number of months each year.
