Man jailed for household insurance scam

A man from Pennsylvania, US, has been jailed for attempted to claim on his household insurance cover after deliberately setting fire to his home.
Bucks County court sentenced Robert Schecter to two years in prison after pleading guilty to arson and other charges.
Schecter admitted to setting is home alight in 2005 and collecting $275,000 (£138,000) from his household insurance cover provider.
According to the Bucks County Courier Times, 100 firefighters attended the blaze which Schecter started by dousing his home in petrol.
Bensalem fire marshal Joseph Scanlon described it as a "ball of fire", noting that Schecter had shown "a callous disregard for human life".
In related news, Admiral recently compiled a list of the most unusual items that people had claimed on their car insurance, which included dog food and leather shorts.
Meanwhile, one customer claimed that £10,000 in cash was stolen from their vehicle.
