Flood agreement 'good news for household insurance customers'

People living in flood-prone areas might be pleased to learn a deal has been struck which should guarantee they are able to obtain household insurance cover.
The Association of British Insurers (ABI) and the government have reached an agreement which they say means flood cover is widely available now and in the future.
Under the terms of the agreement the government will put in place a scheme to boost flood prevention funding, while the ABI will provide more information on how to obtain flood provision as part of a household insurance cover policy.
Stephen Haddrill, the ABI's director-general, said: "It will help ensure that the flood insurance protection, relied upon by millions of householders and businesses, remains widely available.
"We will continue to work closely with government, and review progress each year."
Yesterday, reformed burglar and representative for Alert Me, Michael Fraser, stated that strong locks can reduce the chance of having to make a household insurance claim by deterring thieves.
